Otrobanda, which translates to, “the other side” is quite literally on the other side of Punda. The district was the second to be established in 1707 simply because they ran out of space in Punda. Today, the historic city quarter has seen a total revitalization with the help of the annual KayaKaya Festival and other community efforts that help to beautify the area, support local vendors, and celebrate the endless art and culture with live performances, food, and dancing.
