DISTRICT SCHARLOO

Scharloo is the fourth and youngest colonial district of the bunch. Originally it was used for farming and shipbuilding, but later became home to some of the island’s wealthiest merchants and their mansions. Most of these buildings today have been restored and repurposed as museums, hotels, and offices. Today, Scharloo is becoming one of the most creative districts of Willemstad with startups, eateries, and art galleries that feature life-size works of art.
