This underwater cave is a remarkable natural phenomenon on Curaçao, renowned for its captivating blue-lit interior. It is a great place for adventurers and snorkelers. There are two ways to get there: by boat or by foot. If you opt for a boat adventure, you'll embark on an exhilarating 15-minute journey (depending on the tour) to the Blue Room. It is best to visit around noon when the sun is at its brightest, while early visits are recommended for a more serene experience.
The cave's narrow opening and the tide's conditions may require visitors to carefully navigate their way through the rocks to determine when it's safe to enter The Blue Room. Once inside, you will be greeted by an otherworldly spectacle of electric blue water. However, it's worth noting that the Blue Room may not be suitable for those with claustrophobia due to its enclosed nature.
Another way to get to the Blue Room is to take a hike along the beach from Sta. Cruz beach. The hike typically takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Upon arrival at the Blue Room, visitors are met with breathtaking sights. It is possible to enter the water by jumping off the rocks.
During your visit, you'll likely encounter large schools of fish and be treated to mesmerizing light effects. Snorkeling equipment is highly recommended, and exploring the area around the cave's entrance is also rewarding. Footwear or water shoes are recommended, as the rocks can be sharp. To optimize the experience, it's advisable to check the tide schedule to plan your visit accordingly. While a high tide may offer better lighting effects, a calm sea can make entry more manageable.
