Kyle and Danielle take a trip at least once a year – but this was a big one. Curaçao was their first island getaway, and they wanted it to be special. "A lot of other places that you go, you get to your resort and then you don't leave for a week," says Kyle. "That’s not authentic in my mind."
They chose Curaçao and never looked back – and now, they've recommended it to their friends. "We’ve already recommended it to several people. One of our best friends is actually going there in a couple of months."
The boat cruise to Klein Curaçao was just amazing. It's all-inclusive, so you pay for the day and you get lunch – and an open bar, so that didn't hurt. We met people on the boat and did some snorkeling. Just an awesome day all around.
We liked the food a lot. If I had to make a recommendation, I'd say go the local route. There is great fine dining, too, but we always found ourselves going back to the local spots.
I feel it's a testament to a location, especially an island, when you say you'd actually want to go back. A lot of places are one and done, and they don't really have that return appeal, but Curaçao does. And a lot of that ties back to the authenticity part. So for me, it's authenticity.
We knew going in that Curaçao had beautiful beaches, so we rented a car one day, drove up past Playa Kenepa and stopped at three or four beaches along the way. That was a whole-day affair, and it was just awesome.
