What is the currency used in Curaçao?
Curaçao’s currency is the Caribbean Guilder (Cg), which was introduced on March 31st, 2025. This currency is used in both Curaçao and Sint Maarten and holds the same value as the former Netherlands-Antillean Guilder (ANG). To ensure stability, the Cg is pegged to the U.S. dollar at a fixed exchange rate of USD 1 = Cg 1.79. In commercial transactions, the exchange rate is USD 1 = Cg 1.82, just as it was with the Netherlands-Antillean Guilder.
If you still have Netherlands-Antillean Guilders in your wallet, there’s no need to worry. You can pay with ANG until the end of June 2025, although any change you receive will be in Caribbean Guilders. After June 2025, you can still exchange ANG for Cg at the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten until 2055.
